2014-2015 – Briddlesford Lodge Farm Gallery & Museum
I worked with Briddlesford Farm owners to craft a bid to Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England to convert their Hop Kiln buildings into a museum and gallery space, saving them from eventual collapse and commission three artists to create work in response to the space and its agricultural heritage.
The farm was awarded a grant from HLF and a further grant from ACE to deliver the public art commissioning element which I project managed. This two-year project involved volunteers, schools and members of the public to engage with the contemporary artworks and heritage works on display and won a number of architectural awards, both nationally and locally.
The commissioned artists were selected by invitation and asked to propose their interpretation and area of exploration for the site. The selected three artists were Artist & Basketmaker – Tim Johnson, Visual Artist – Jo Hummel, and Visual & Performance Artist – Laurence Dube-Rushby, creating installations and site-specific work to celebrate the opening of this new museum & gallery space on the IW.
