Georgia Newman
I am a Cultural Consultant and Creative Producer working in contemporary visual arts and the creative industries.
For over 10 years I have been working with artists, galleries, museums, Local Government and other cultural organisations on fundraising, community engagement, curation, arts commissioning, strategic development, and project management.
I am committed to facilitating meaningful connections between communities and the rich tapestry of contemporary arts and culture. I aim to empower individuals, helping them realise their artistic visions and aspirations, ensuring everyone can experience great arts and culture on their doorstep.
I live on the beautiful Isle of Wight – a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Island, located on the south coast of England. UNESCO Biospheres are internationally recognised, natural and cultural environments and recognised as places where local communities aim to live sustainably within their local ecosystems.
It is essentially about three things acting and reacting to each other; people, place and wildlife. With 33 parishes on the Island, each parish tells its own story of people, place and nature, forming a rich tapestry of cultural heritage. In 2019, the IW was awarded as a Biosphere by the international coordinating council of UNESCOs Man and the Biosphere Programme.
I am Deputy Director for Creative Island – the development agency for culture on the Isle of Wight. Creative Island acts as a conduit for cultural activity, playing a pivotal role in nurturing all aspects of Island culture, with arts organisations, libraries, heritage services, and cultural education. Within this role I work with local government and other stakeholders to ensure the continuation of public funding for the IW. In 2022 I founded the IW Creative Network, which supports creative freelancers and organisations, which I still manage and deliver – as part of Creative Island’s talent development offer.

They are internationally recognised and our Island shows pretty good examples of this! In 2019, the IW was awarded as a Biosphere by the international coordinating council of UNESCOs Man and the Biosphere Programme.
